The Video Champions are awarded in the following four principal categories:

Programme Awards
Personality Awards
Business Awards
People’s Choice Award

Programme Awards

In 2011 the jury selected eight programme categories. In detail these were: German Film, International Film, Family Entertainment, Music, TV, Special Interest, Boxset and Special Edition. As in previous years, this did not focus on sales figures, but rather on the production, quality, packaging and marketing of the products.

Personality Awards

Traditionally, the personality awards form the emotional highlight of the Entertainment Night. Outstanding personalities and filmmakers are honoured for their services with Video Champions in categories such as the Artist Award, Music Award, World Award or Lifetime Achievement Award.

Business Awards

With the business awards businesses, creators and industry personalities are recognised for their services to, and achievements within, the home entertainment market.

People’s Choice Award

From a preselection of the 20 most popular titles over the previous 12 months, users on the popular movie websites kino.de and video.de select their People's Favourite. The high-circulation customer magazines Treffpunkt Kino, VideoTipp and GameShop also call upon film fans to take part in the vote.
