In November 2012 the Video Entertainment trade convention will take place for the thirteenth time. As in previous years, the venue will be the Westin Grand Hotel in Munich. The day before the convention, all delegates come together to a Get-together networking party in the Eisbach restaurant in Munich. Video Entertainment unites the entire home entertainment sector in Munich and is without competition in Germany in this format.
Current market developments and future challenges, national as well as international, are at the heart of the trade convention. The convention, presented by the leading trade magazine VideoMarkt, turns out to be the most important information and discussion platform for all decision-makers and doers within the home entertainment market, as well as an educational seminar for employees of many businesses within the industry. An unmissable occasion in any appointments diary!
Although it has long since become one of the most important pillars for the movie industry, the home entertainment industry is not exactly known for lush events, red carpet occasions or prestigious award ceremonies – one major exception being the "Entertainment Night". Hosted by Germany's leading trade paper “VideoMarkt”, the annual event honours artistic achievements and professional excellence in creating and marketing the movies, DVDs , Blu-rays that enthuse millions of people. Recipients of the prestigious "Video Champion" include actors, directors, producers, musicians and other industry professionals that all play a key role in providing high-class entertainment.
Among those that have been honoured in recent years are renowned German actors, directors and producers like Armin Mueller-Stahl, Bernd Eichinger, Udo Lindenberg, Til Schweiger, Michael Bully Herbig or Volker Schlöndorff as well as international stars and personalities like Academy Award winners Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová or Jack Valenti, Katie Melua, Dolph Lundgren and Ephraim Kishon.
During the past years, professional and public interest in the event has steadily grown. More than 500 guests attend the event every year, among them the leading representatives of the German, Austrian and Swiss entertainment industry as well as numerous celebrities. Press coverage includes countless major German magazines, websites and TV channels. The setting for the "Entertainment Night" is provided by Munich's Westin Grand, one of Germany's leading five-star-hotels. The award ceremony is accompanied by a banquet followed by a post award party.
